On May 27, the first order of container service for importing grain from Southeast Asia was completed in Jingtang Harbour District of Tangshan Port. The two 40-foot containers are filled with dried cassava imported from Thailand by local enterprises in Tangshan, marking that container services at Tangshan Port has accessed imports from Southeast Asia, and the port service capacity has been further improved.
The smooth customs clearance of the goods received professional guidance and strong support from Jingtang Harbour District Customs. Various links were efficiently completed from declaration, customs transfer and write-off, inspection, certificate issuance and release, and the customs clearance of the goods was completed within 5 hours after customs declaration, which had been highly praised by customers.
The goods are transported to Tangshan Port via the Tangshan-Shanghai container liner route. The route is a cooperative project between Tangshan Port Group and Shanghai International Port Group which aims to implement the national “Maritime Silk Road” development strategy. Tangshan Port Hede Shipping Co., Ltd. and Shanghai International Port Group Logistics Co., Ltd., the shipping companies held by two ports, invest one ship respectively to carry out cooperation on domestic and foreign trade on the same ship and maintain a 4-day sailing schedule, and take the advantages of container liner route for foreign trade at Port of Shanghai to achieve seamless connection with the Shanghai-Southeast Asia route, which can reach Bangkok and Laem Chabang in Thailand, Ho Chi Minh, Da Nang and Haiphong in Vietnam, Klang and Penang in Malaysia, Pasir Gudang, Jakarta, Surabaya and Semarang in Indonesia, Manila and Davao in Philippines and Singapore, thus expanding Tangshan Port’s service network for foreign trade routes and improving port service functions. Since the opening of the route, it has provided import and export transportation services for many enterprises in Tangshan City and the hinterland. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the advantages of the Tangshan-Shanghai domestic and foreign trade route on the same ship have been utilized to solve the problems of import and export transportation channels for Wansheng Fertilizer Industry, Honglin Silica Gel, Shougang International, HSBC Steel and other enterprises and ensure the smooth shipment of goods of foreign trade enterprises in our city to Southeast Asia.
At the moment, Tangshan Port has opened 5 overseas trade routes between Japan and South Korea, covering 9 basic ports in Japan and South Korea. As import and export routes in Southeast Asia are put into use, our city will be integrated into the new pattern of RCEP international trade, to guarantee the high-quality cooperation and development between Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and ASEAN, enhance the dominance of Tangshan City in logistics connectivity and unimpeded trade in Northeast Asia, thus continuously making important contributions to the implementation of our city’s development strategy towards the sea, the promotion of the linkage between ports, industries and cities, and the construction of a window city for economic cooperation in Northeast Asia.
